Multiple awards from the Society for Technical Communication (STC) Carolinas
Best in Show · Mobile Design
The RTI International Annual Report won Best in Show for Mobile Design from STC Carolinas. Animated side-panel navigation, bright pill-shaped buttons, and a custom-coded, layered header created a distinctive mobile experience, while screen-specific color treatments maintained accessible contrast across imagery and dark backgrounds.
APPROACH
Most of the world’s web traffic now comes from phones. People tap, swipe, and switch between apps all day long. Fortunately, starting with the smallest screen has always felt natural to me: it forces disciplined prioritization, elegant workflows, and ultra-lean interfaces where the essentials are never buried.

Shared by clinicians during live patient appointments, OBOE needed to build trust quickly and keep people engaged with meaningful content that could lead to study enrollment. The site earned both Distinguished and Best in Show honors from STC Carolinas.
